This RV garage is getting a full makeover - and the bones are looking good. We just hit topout on the plumbing rough-in, which means all the supply and drain lines are run, positioned, and ready for inspection before the walls close up. It's one of those milestones that doesn't get a lot of fanfare, but it's one of the most important steps in any remodel.
Here's what we were working with - a large open garage space being converted into a fully functional living area. That means running hot and cold PEX supply lines throughout the framing, setting drain lines in the slab, and coordinating around the electrical work happening at the same time. Red lines carry hot water, blue lines carry cold. Black ABS handles the drain and waste side. Clean, organized, and mapped out so whoever comes behind us knows exactly what's what.
Remodels like this one require a different kind of thinking than a standard new build. You're working within an existing footprint, dealing with concrete floors, block walls, and limited chase space. Getting the layout right before anything gets covered up is critical - because fixing a mistake behind drywall is a whole different conversation than catching it during rough-in.
What we do on jobs like this is treat the rough-in like it's the finished product. Everything clipped, supported, and run with intention. That discipline is what keeps remodels on schedule and avoids costly surprises down the road. The plumbing and electrical are coming together, and the next phase is right around the corner.
If you're thinking about converting a garage, adding a bathroom to a space, or taking on any kind of addition or remodel - this is the kind of work that sets the whole project up for success. Get the rough-in right, and everything else falls into place.
