Adding a handheld showerhead sounds simple enough. New fixture, done. But here's the thing - if the water lines behind the wall are old, you're just bolting new hardware onto a system that's already on borrowed time.

That's why when we swap in a new valve and diverter for a handheld setup, we refresh the water lines too. Fresh PEX running hot and cold, a new valve body set in solid blocking - the whole supply side gets redone so everything behind the wall is working together as one clean system.

It costs a little more up front. But it beats tearing the wall back open two years later because a fitting failed on lines that were already 20 years old. We'd rather do it once and do it right.

This is the kind of work that falls squarely in our residential plumbing and remodel wheelhouse. Whether it's a straightforward valve swap or a full shower remodel, the approach is the same - if the wall is open, we're not cutting corners on what goes inside it.

When the tile goes up and the wall closes back in, you won't be able to see any of this. That's exactly the point. It should all just work, quietly, for years to come.
